Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Overview
HSLA0001 is an independent software studio based in New York City. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information across our website (hsla0001.com) and our apps and services (together, the “Services”).
We build software with privacy as a default. We collect as little as possible, and several of our apps collect nothing at all. Where an individual app has its own privacy policy, that policy governs the app.
Information We Collect
We aim to collect the minimum necessary. Depending on how you use the Services, this may include:
- Information you provide. For example, if you email us, the contents of your message and your email address.
- Usage and device data. Aggregate analytics about how our website is used (such as page views and general device or browser type), collected through third-party analytics. This is not used to personally identify you.
- Purchase data. App purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive limited, aggregate sales information from Apple and never see your payment details.
- App content. Most of our apps store your content (notes, habits, settings, and similar) on your device or in your own private iCloud account. We do not have access to that data.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
How We Use Information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
- To respond to your questions and support requests.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the website is used.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us run the Services (such as hosting and analytics), bound by confidentiality.
- To comply with the law or respond to lawful requests.
- To protect the rights, safety, and property of HSLA0001, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition.
Third-Party Services
Our apps rely on Apple services such as the App Store and iCloud (CloudKit); your use of those is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Our website uses third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics). These providers only receive the limited data necessary to provide their service.
Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we hold. Data stored on your device or in your iCloud account is protected by your device and by Apple. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here or as required by law. Data stored on your device or in iCloud stays under your control and can be deleted by you at any time.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@hsla0001.com. Because we collect very little, in many cases we may hold no personal information about you at all.
International Users
We are based in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S.
App-Specific Policies
Some apps in the HSLA0001 suite have their own privacy policies with additional detail. For example, the Stack app collects no data — see hsla0001.com/privacy/stack. Where an app-specific policy exists, it governs that app.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the date above.
